Do you know what the compelling of the Holy Spirit feels like? (Acts 20:27) Being compelled by the Spirit is saying, “I have to do this--I cannot NOT do this.”
That is how I feel about Children's Ministry at PRC. I cannot NOT be committed to the next generation. Children are receptive to Jesus, and I love watching life transformation take place before my eyes. I cannot imagine being at church and not being with kids.
I’m not the only one who feels this way. Here is what some of our staff and parents say about being compelled to serve in our Children’s Ministry:
“I’m not sure what I enjoy most, the people I get to work with, the stimulation of teaching God’s Word, or the response of children to the whole process. But I’m not budging from this unless God drags me away.” -- Sandy Ramsey
“Working with my children allows me to get to know families with kids that are the same age as my kids. Being with them as they learn and worship shows them how important my faith is to me and models what I want them to learn. I get to have a maximum impact on the spiritual growth of my own children. I can have fun and learn things myself. Kids have a way of questioning things and making observations that adults don't. I am always able to see things a new way because of something a child has said.” -- Caitlin Garrett
“[Serving in Children's Ministry] gives me a chance to pass on our legacy of faith to other children!” -- Bill Pounds
“My great passion is to tell stories to children that show God's love in new and creative ways. Recently I performed the Good Samaritan story to kids four times. I could have done it several more without getting tired of watching their faces light up, hearing them laugh, and seeing the wheels turn in their heads." -- Shelley Lugauer
“I work with people who love Jesus and love each other. Together we work to help children know the love of Jesus early on so they can cling to Him all their lives.” -- Renee Turner
“I love to see children’s eyes light up at Bible story time. I love to see them dance and clap at worship time. They understand the simple truth of Jesus, and they remind me what true worship is when I forget.” -- Kjersti Hedges
“I know I am personally affecting kids for Christ. I get to watch how the teachers teach preschoolers about Jesus and then go home and follow through. I see how the lives of parents are impacted by a smiling face and a helping hand--by extending the heart and hands of Christ. It’s fulfilling for me when I see and hear that what I do does indeed make a difference for the Kingdom.” -- Deb Pinyerd
What are the things YOU are compelled by the Spirit to do?
Children's Ministry is a place where you can experience your passions, where you leave with a smile on your face. Hang around us awhile, and you might find purpose and fulfillment that you never knew possible. You might even find yourself saying, “I cannot NOT be involved with the kids at PRC!”
